Day 1. Girly/Psychedelic
So I chose to go with girly/psychedelic for day one. The first thing I decided was that I wanted to use one of these big hoop skirts from Retrobeat, along with these new thigh high boots from Marzipan Sky. These two were the ones that worked the best together, so I ended up with a blue/purple color scheme. Now, normally for stuff like this I like to go as 50/50 as possible, but this one ended up being mostly girly. I think it still works, though. Probably because the boots honestly look like they'd fit better in Retrobeat's stock than Marzipan Sky's.
Day 2. Feminine/Rock
I tried my best to make sure that all of the combos were weird, and not ones that would typically go well together, and I also tried to do as many combos as I could that I hadn't done before. So, feminine/rock for day two. That's certainly a new one! I didn't really have much of a plan for this one, but I had a feeling it would end up skewing a little more toward feminine, so I decided to go with a red/black color scheme to add more of a rock touch. And then it actually ended up being more rock...whoops? I still think it turned out pretty nice, but with that said, this is my least favorite outfit for the challenge.
Day 3. Bold/Babydoll
Now this was an interesting one! This is the combo I was most looking forward to doing, though I'm slightly iffy about how it turned out. It looks nice, but even though it's a 50/50 combo, it still looks more babydoll, since the bold stuff is mostly accessories. Well, that's why I tried to balance it out with a more bold color scheme. I also tried to go 50/50 on the make-up with some smoky eyes, rosy cheeks, and bubblegum pink lips. Not entirely sure how well that worked either. The whole thing was a fun experiment, though!
Day 4. Lively/Goth
Now, this one I've actually done before. A few times, even. That doesn't make it any less of a fun combo, though. I wanted to take a different approach to this one in comparison to the bold/babydoll outfit, so I tossed aside the frills in favor of some pants, and also went for a different color scheme. High contrast red/black is not only a personal favorite color combo of mine, it also seemed quite fitting for both styles. I like this outfit quite a bit, though I do wish that the sandals were a slightly brighter red.
Day 5. Preppy/Boho-chic
This was probably the outfit I was looking forward to doing the least, but somehow it actually ended up being my favorite of the bunch! I started with one of these great new tops from Soy, found a preppy skirt that matched the belt, and then just went from there. And somehow it actually turned out really nice!
Day 6. Eastern/Chic
Final day, final combo. And since there's only two styles left, that means that eastern/chic is the last combination by default. This one is a lot like the bold/babydoll one in that it's mostly just an eastern outfit with some chic accessories. But I got to use the Zelda tiara, so no complaints here.
That's the end of the challenge, but I've also got a quick Design Centre update for you.
New dress. Pretty generic. |
And a new stage costume! This is kinda like a new and improved version of my Ocean Blue set, except that I used a different base design this time. Still, same concept, but I feel that I executed it better this time. |
One last thing that I want to mention before I go—a very lovely person on tumblr actually drew fanart of the girly/psychedelic outfit! How awesome is that?! I just wanted to share that.
Hi.
ReplyDeleteSorry I've been gone for so long. I do have a habit of dropping off the face of the Earth for long periods of time. I didn't actually get around to buying Styling Star (other things in my budget keep taking priority... I really thought I'd buy it right away...) and my life is a bit messed up at the moment (but stable, so at least there's that), so most of this kind of thing has gotten away from me and I'm feeling a bit demoralized about it all. I noticed you mentioned me in one of the comments on a previous post, and I was going to respond to that, but didn't get around to it. I probably won't be up to participating in any contests, but I might try to leave some comments...
Anyway, I love that Boho-Preppy outfit! It's like the pieces were made for each other (despite not being so).
No need to apologize! I'm quite guilty of that kind of thing, too >.>; I hope things get better for you!
DeleteThat's alright! We never did managed to get the contests going, anyway. And besides, I'm not I feel up to holding them right now, myself. And I'd love to get comments from you, but you don't have to feel obligated to leave any.
Yeah, I was shocked at how well it all worked together!
I need to try this challenge out! It looks super fun!
ReplyDeleteAlso that first outfit, I totally need that in real life! I would wear that all the time.
Yeah, that first outfit seems to be quite popular! I'm glad to hear that you like it so much :)
DeleteIt's just so lovely! The purple colour scheme looks stunning and I quite like those skirts from Retrobeat. I was never a fan of them in Fashion Forward but I love them now.
